Law W. McMeans
Law was born and raised in Ada, OK and graduated from Byng Public Schools. He went on to attend East Central University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and earned his Juris Doctor from Oklahoma City University. Law’s main focuses are family law, estate planning, criminal and tribal law with experience also in municipal law representing municipalities.
Law previously worked for Erik Johnson Law, PLLC in Ada handling family, estate and municipal matters. Before that while attending law school and upon graduation, he worked for the Ben Baker Law Office of Purcell starting as a Law Clerk and eventually serving as an Associate Attorney after graduation. During his time spent at OCU, Law oversaw the Pro Se Divorce Clinic for Oklahoma County, participated in numerous other Legal Clinics, served as the President of the Family Law Association and completed several internships with various organizations and non-profits. Law was also selected to represent the University as a Student Ambassador allowing him the opportunity to educate and recruit future law students. Law currently continues to work as a Recruiter for the Oklahoma City University School of Law and as an adjunct professor for East Central University.
Law’s current practice primarily focuses on family law matters, involving complex equitable distribution settlements, alimony, time-sharing, child support, paternity, and contempt and enforcement proceedings. He also handles adversary and non-adversary probate, trust and guardianship matters and assists his clients with complex estate planning structures for sophisticated estates before marriage through pre-nuptial agreements and trusts; during marriage, through post-nuptial agreements and asset-protection planning; upon divorce through the settlement and division of the estate; and, ultimately upon death, in the estate or trust administration, whether contested or uncontested.
Law also defends individuals faced with criminal prosecution in both misdemeanor and felony defenses. Further, Law represents and assists individual municipalities in maintaining their legal compliance and providing the best experience for the citizens living within.
Law is married to his wife, Casidy McMeans. They have a wonderful daughter, Amaeryse, who is their pride and joy. When Law and Casidy are not working, they enjoy spending time together with their little one as a family, traveling to see new places and attending sporting events/concerts. They are members of the Ada First Baptist Church.
